“Empowering Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students through Comprehensive Healthcare

A stethoscope rests in the pocket of a blue medical uniform.

The Student Health Center is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with nursing staff on call after hours for emergencies. We treat individual students with special healthcare needs, minor illnesses and injuries, manage health-related emergencies, and coordinate hospital transport when needed.

A contracted physician provides medical orders, is on site for visits as necessary, and is available for emergencies.

Nurses document all student visits and maintain secure, up-to-date records. Parents and appropriate faculty are notified promptly in the event of illness or injury.

Student Health Center Nurses maintain positive communication with:

  • Parents & staff
  • Physicians
  • DHS & county health departments
  • Social workers
  • Local pharmacies

Oklahoma School for the Deaf nurses are committed to promoting health education among both students and staff.
